Pocket Legends update lets you play as a Rhino Paladin ... 'nuff said

We would usually forced to drop the microphone at this point, but here's the rest of the message. Spacetime Studios, the creators of the popular Legends series of cross-platform mobile (and free-to-play) MMOs, has issued a major update for its first game. Pocket Legends players now allowed to run around in the world of Alterra as a paladin that just happens to be a rhino.

To be honest, this editor is more than satisfied with a horned warrior saints, but this update also brings a playable Vixen Ranger class (which I learned today is a female fox). The Pocket Legends will also kill the new elite monsters, the Red Dragon, a new heroic dungeon known as the forgotten forest and a new Capture the Flag-based player versus player map, the Burning Flats.

Finally, there are two primary options to take those existing class skills to a range of new products with new low-level equipment and weapons, and finally the return of Winterfest. Pocket Legends' holiday celebration returns with new decorative items to hoard. We think this answers our questions about the fate of the older games in the face of Arcane Legends Legends, right?

Zynga partner takes on Words With Friends with Letter by Letter on mobile

Something seems strange a publishing partner Zynga released a pun, but here we are. Woodland Heroes creator Row Sham Bow recently published letter by letter free. On iOS and Android, a twist on the popular mobile Genre With a feature that steal players, her friend letters to create their own words, letter for letter looks to turn the common word game on its head.

At first glance point out for letter like a cross between words with friends and letterpress by Atebits, but it is not until a friend letters with your own new word that it is clear what create Row Sham Bow up . combine In fact, stealing letters and convert them to your current color is the ultimate goal: The player with the most letters in their color when the game ends is the winner.

In order to keep the competition resolute, players can block and dodge their opponent tries to steal their letters, articles and bomb used to blow up players current crop of letters in exchange for new ones. (Protip: In steal letters, you can go in almost any direction, such as vertical and horizontal in games like Words With Friends against.)

Letter by letter, like any decent pun support similarities between Facebook friends and push notifications to assist in turn-based, asynchronous play catch. It seems that Row Sham Bow has incorporated the best of both an impressive word games to embody the struggle for power in the genre to the fore both visually as well as mechanisms. In short, kudos. (That will be 10 points, please.)

Zynga has finally done it: A 3D (real time!) multiplayer shooter on iOS

Not to toot your own horn, but (beep, beep?) We called it completely. Zynga is a 3D free-to-play multiplayer shooter launched on iOS, developer Digital Legends. It's called The Respawnables and sees more than familiar. The Respawnables is a third-person shooter that sees players going head-to-head in eight-on-eight, or free-for-all games.

As Kotaku points out (and we agree), sees the Respawnables more than a bit of shooter Battlefield Heroes and Team Fortress 2 That means working on the mobile Digital Legends variety of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 bear, so that as you will. The game features both offline and online (in real time!) Multiplayer modes on four cards that seem to be inspired by this hit free-to-play shooter.

Regardless of how the derivative may be Respawnables, this is quite the leap forward for Zynga to change his image a little more casual "hardcore" friendly. With potential breakthrough mobile shooters like drowning on the horizon, it will be interesting to see if Zynga will come out on top in this corner of the scene. Until then, excuse us while we are sorry some noobs come on.

FarmVille Unicorn Island - Everything you need to know

Over the weekend, we discovered a set of Unicorn Island animals and building materials that had mysteriously appeared in the FarmVille marketplace, and tonight they have in fact been given a purpose. That's right, Unicorn Island is now current to build on your farm(s)! While the Unicorn Island could appear quite daunting, it can ultimately be thinking of as a general animal storage habitat, like to the Dino Lab. That is, you will require to collect building materials to construct the Unicorn Island, which may then be used to store unicorns in your game.

The first stage of Unicorn Island needs 30 building materials 10 Enchanted Blossoms, 10 Rainbow Clovers and 10 Hearts of Gold. These items are earned by asking your friends to send them to you, or by purchasing them with Farm Cash. You can also claim these items for free on the wall posts shared by your friends as they also work on completing their many own Unicorn Islands.

When you have completed the construction of your Unicorn Island, you will be able to store 20 unicorns inside it. You will be able to harvest Unicorn Island once per day to gain mastery points and coins relating to the animals stored within, but the main draw is the {ability|skill} to collect gems. Similar to the DNA of the Dino Lab feature, these gems can be combined to receive new kinds of unicorns in your game! Different types of unicorns produce different colors of gems, so it is worth keeping all of the unicorns you could create,  even if they are duplicates.

There are multiple unicorns and gem combinations available within Unicorn Island, and here's a complete look at the different formulas, straight from Zynga.

Mobage's Marvel - War of Heroes coming this fall to iOS and Android

Late last week, DeNA / Mobage and Hasbro announced a partnership that will see Transformers Battle being released on iOS and Android devices later this fall, but that is not the only mobile card-battle game that DeNA and Mobage have up their collective sleeves. Announced just this morning is Marvel: War of Heroes from the people at Mobage and Marvel Entertainment. Marvel: War of Heroes will be similar to Transformers Battle in that players will be able to gather hundreds of cards with varying rarities and then get them to battle against real and computer controlled opponents.

There'll be hundreds of cards available at launch, containing both heroes and villains inside the Marvel universe, and that choice will be expanded after the game's initial release. Also, players will be given unique incentives to combine specific characters based on real combinations that have happened in the various Marvel universe storylines. For instance, a unique power will apparently unlock when players combine the forces of Black Widow and Captain America.

With character art drawn by real Marvel artists and a completely original storyline, along with world events that will continue to expand on the stock gameplay experience, Marvel fans should have no problem finding fun in War of Heroes. In addition, fans that are excited for launch may head to a new website for the game where they can register to earn a unique, exclusive rare card when the game in fact launches. Click here to do just that, and remain tuned for more on Marvel: War of Heroes as we get closer to launch this fall!

FarmVille Mystery Game (08/05/12) - Australian animals come to the farm

In keeping with the new Australian item theme that has launched in FarmVille's marketplace, farmers can now earn in fact more Australian themed animals for their farm(s) by playing this week's Mystery Game. This week's theme offers six (technically seven) new animals at a price of SİXTEEN Farm Cash per dart thrown at the board. Here's this week's lineup of prizes, according to FarmVille Freak.

Bridled Wallaby
Echidna
Male Ostrich
Spotted Cucus
Waler Horse
White Belly Sea Eagle

If you can win one of every of the above 6 animals, you will take a unique seventh prize, the Rose Cockatoo, at no additional cost. Remember, this item is not really "free," unless you have earned all 6 of the above prizes with free Mystery Game Darts, and it could end up being quite expensive if you are really paying to play. What's more, you will probably end up with duplicates of the first 6 prizes as you try to earn one of each. We wish you the best of luck if you are going after the Rose Cockatoo for your farm!

CityVille Twix Promotion - Everything you need to know

If you watch a lot of TV, you heve probably spotted the "right and left" Twix commercial for Twix candy bars. In it, we view a rivalry between the right Twix bar and the left Twix bar, and that identical rivalry has now come to our cities in CityVille. Through this new branded promotion, you may now build to different Twix factories in your town, with each costing just 5,000 coins.

These factories serve as businesses, requiring 100 Goods each to operate. You will receive just 500 coins in profits each time those Goods are used, but since you may have both running at once, the numbers are of course doubled. Via this new promotion, these businesses will be available until August 17, and if you can earn 20 points of mastery for each factory, you will receive unique decorative statues that give off an 18% bonus payout to surrounding items.

At the end of this promotion, these 2 Twix factories will both transform into 2 individual, basic candy factories, so these limited edition decorations are the only pieces that will remain. If you like having branded items within your town permanently, you will require to master both of these factories to earn these rewards. Good luck earning them in time!

What do you think of these two Twix factories in CityVille? Will you build one or both? Sound off in the comments!

Angry Birds join Intel in branded ultrabook adventure on Facebook

Never squawk at the power of Angry Birds. Rovio, Intel and moble promotion firm Jumptap have all joined forces to carry to you Angry Birds Ultrabook Adventure. A full-blown Intel-branded Facebook game powered by Rovio's acclaimed game franchise, this is a 10-level romp via the insides of one of Intel's ultrabook laptops in the same vein of Angry Birds Friends.

"Our top priority is to surprise and delight our fans," Rovio Mighty Eagle and CMO Peter Vesterbacka said in a release. "The game is a great way to experience all the fun of Angry Birds in a brand new environment, inspired by Intel's spectacular new technology."

Just like Angry Birds Friends, Angry Birds Ultrabook Adventure offers leaderboards on every level for players to compare their scores with that of their friends on Facebook. Of course, it would not be a branded experience without a good dose of content from the brand in question, so do not be surprised by the Intel logos everywhere and other content. This branded game marks the start of a year-long partnership among the 3 companies, so wait plenty more where this came from.

CityVille Jumbo Port: Everything you need to know

Your waterfront in CityVille is likely a pretty crowded place, filled with docks and ports for all sorts of boats, both for earning Goods or for bringing in tourists, but you may now luckily save very a bit of space by building a Jumbo Port, a bigger structure that serves as multiple Cruise / City Ports in one! Once you have reached Level 20, you can build one of these Jumbo Cruise Ports, which can be upgraded to eventually hold the equivalent 25 Cruise Ships. Here's a complete look at its construction.

For the beginning Jumbo Cruise Port, you will require to spend five energy to complete its base, and must then ask your friends for building materials to finish it off:

    4 Green Hawaiian Shirts
    4 Blue Hawaiian Shirts
    4 Yellow Hawaiian Shirts
    4 Red Hawaiian Shirts
    4 Orange Hawaiian Shirts

These items are earned via a combination of general news posts and individual demands sent out to friends. When you have gathered all of these materials, you will have a Jumbo Port that can hold just four ships. You can send these ships to five different locations, ranging in price from 5000 Goods to 125 City Cash, and can then start upgrading the Jumbo Port to hold even more Cruise Ships and tourists. The upgrades are earned by simply collecting more and more Hawaiian Shirts, in larger quantities each time.

Here's the breakdown of how many ships a Jumbo Port will hold, based on level.

    Level 1: 4 Ships
    Level 2: 10 Ships
    Level 3: 16 Ships
    Level 4: 20 Ships
    Level 5: 25 Ships

Hopefully, this Jumbo Port will offer you city enough productivity to save on waterfront space, allowing you to take advantage of any other features that utilize that space in the future. Good luck on upgrading this Jumbo Port to its highest level, a task that is much easier said than done!

What do you think of the Jumbo Port in CityVille? Will you delete your older Cruise Ports in favor of just having this one building? Sound off in the comments!

The Sims Social - Earn a free Progressive Snapshot Microphone for your pad

If you have grown to ignore the green "rewards" checkbox that sits to the right of the Sims Social gameplay area, you will want to click on it at least a few times in a next couple of days, as a new item has been added to the rewards lineup: a Progressive Snapshot Microphone.

Unfortunately, receiving this microphone is easier said than done, as the promotion seems to be randomized. That is, you can click on the green checkmark and will receive a promotional video for another product, other than Progressive. Many probably, you will receive Lipton iced tea commercials, which will reward you with free energy, but not the mic stand.

Our suggestion? Keep completing the promotions that you are offered, and then refresh the game to be given a new chance at the Progressive Microphone Stand. If we come across a direct link that will let you claim the microphone stand in your game, we will make sure to let you know. Good luck earning one in your own game!

Have you been able to earn the Progress Snapshot Microphone for your Sim's pad, or are you still trying to get this particular video to show up for you? Sound off in the comments!

Ruby Blast tips dug up by its creator and Zynga's best player

Judging by the outcomes of a recent Facebook Game Face-off, you guys and gals really--I mean, really--dig Ruby Blast. Zynga's many recent arcade game on the network needs far more skill and finesse than the developer's 'Ville games. You might think you have the maximum score, and you likely do. Well, at least the maximum score among your friends, but have you met Berto?

The name's Berto Alvaro, a lead designer on Zynga Poker who just so happens to hold the maximum Ruby Blast score within all of Zynga: 9,009,390. (For those keeping score, that's among some 3,000 plus employees.) So, among Alvaro and the Ruby Blast teams at Zynga Seattle and Zynga China, we are absolutely certain that their tips can give you a much required edge against your buddies:

Nova Flare, Starfall, and Cherry Bombs are the fastest way to help you take to the marker. Finding matching groups are less frequent the deeper you go, so try to save Shuffle Magic for deeper areas of the mine. You can also use this to help take passed the line, but it's not as instantaneous as one of the explosive power-ups.

Save "regular bombs", drills, Nova Flares, Starfall and Cherry Bombs for the last 10 seconds to help drill downward. Spend time learning what every one does, and you will rapidly pick up how to conserve them better over time.

Focus on matching as most gems in a row as possible. Click 10 sets in a row (with no pauses in between) and you will hit "blast mode". Click 10 more throughout blast mode, and the row above and below the line gets blasted. This is helpful for clear those tough-to-blast obstacles in the mine.

Speaking of, beware of non-purple rocks: Those rocks need 2 blasts, so try and use a power-up when one comes up.

Focus on sets at the bottom at the line. These'll blast the un-bricked areas around them and get you passed the line. Remember, the further down you get, the less frequent sets appear. So, working the bottom increases your chances of getting sets since more bricks shift around when cleared.

Have any tips of your own for how to best play Ruby Blast? Share with us in the comments.

Top 25 Facebook games - August 2012: It's Zynga versus the world

If you look at this month's AppData chart for the top 25 Facebook games (daily players), it looks almost as if Zynga is beset on all sides by the competition. Smack in the middle of the FarmVille maker's domination of the charts are King.com's Bubble Witch Saga and Candy Crush Saga in in fifth and sixth place as well as Wooga's Diamond Dash in the seven spot. Then a new challenger seems.

FreshPlanet, with its mega hit SongPop, encroaches upon Zynga's waning stranglehold on the top 10 with 3.1 million everyday players in 11th place. There is no denying that these games are on this list because they are popular with the players. But the fact that games like CityVille and Hidden Chronicles are on the slide--to the tune of 700,000 and 500,000 daily players, respectively--certainly gives them a hefty nudge.

Other notable newcomers to the list in daily players, which is, frankly, the many trustworthy measure for reach, are Social Point's Dragon City with 2.2 million everyday players in spot 17, Pool Live Tour by Geewa with 2.1 million and Playfish and EA's SimCity Social in 23rd place with 1.7 million daily players. Given recent events surrounding Zynga, the FarmVille best watch its back.

Threads of Mystery - High fashion meets murder mystery on Facebook

With Gardens of Time, Blackwood & Bell Mysteries and Disney Animal Kingdom Explorers, one might think that Playdom has sufficient hidden object games in its catalog, but there is seemingly room for at least one more, as the developer has officially launched Threads of Mystery on Facebook.

Threads of Mystery takes us to modern day Paris, where we will be contacted by the ghost of our great aunt, a once famous fashion designer that was murdered on her wedding day. Her memories have become cloudy during her time in the afterlife, and the mystery behind her murder was never solved. It'll be up to you to travel throughout Paris collecting clues surrounding your aunt's past and a suspicious romance that was ultimately never meant to be.

In Threads of Mystery, you will be able to restore your aunt's fashion house by placing themed machines that will craft clothing items above time. These items help unlock additional hidden object scenes for you to explore, as will simply adding decorations to the home. Many scenes include 12 hidden objects, with plenty of clues and even building materials thrown in.

If nothing else, it seems as although Threads of Mystery has a more in-depth storyline than Playdom's other hidden object games, but we will have full thinkings on the game's true quality at a later date. For now, sense free to get a head start on yet another Playdom hidden object game, and stay tuned for tricks, tips, strategy guides and more as we dive straight into this new game!

FarmVille Sneak Peek - Unicorn Island coming soon!

If you are a fan of unicorns, as so most FarmVille players are, then an upcoming game feature will probably send you to the moon (figuratively speaking, of course). Soon, we will be able to construct and build a Unicorn Island, complete with rainbow clovers, golden hearts and other fun and whimsical items.

This feature will probably be launched sometime within the next week, as the building materials for constructing the Unicorn Island are already available in the game's store: Rainbow Clovers, Enchanted Blossoms and Hearts of Gold. also, if you head into the game's store and search for "Unicorn," you will find 4 new Unicorns that are existing to purchase for Farm Cash.

Pirate Unicorn - 65 Farm Cash
Bubble Gum Unicorn - 35 Farm Cash
Ballerina Unicorn - 40 Farm Cash
Rainbow Unicorn - 50 Farm Cash

If you can not wait, then by all means shell out the Farm Cash to buy these animals now, but I'd personally suggest waiting until the Unicorn Island itself launches in full, just in case there is a way to earn these 4 Unicorns for free. Either way, this looks like the first of most waves of Unicorn-themed content that will be released in FarmVille over the next few weeks and months. If we are lucky, this'll be as major a feature as the dinosaur themed content that continues to be existing, giving us something prettier to focus on instead! Stay tuned for more, as we will make sure you are the first to know when you may start building your very own Unicorn Island on your farm(s)!

What do you think of the idea of a Unicorn Island? Do you hope this will allow us to earn Unicorns for free, or are you fine purchasing the animals for Farm Cash? Sound off in the comments!

CityVille Meteor Crash Site - Everything you need to know

The science labs in your CityVille town are abuzz with action this weekend, as a meteor has crash landed on the outskirts of your city! Focused on the scientific discoveries this might lead to, you are being pressured by said scientists to extend out to the meteor crash site through a new feature of the same name. There is a goal to go along with this feature called "A Deep Impact," and we are here with a guide on what's up.

A Deep Impact

Expand to the Meteor Crash Site
    Collect 30 Shooting Stars
Send your Space Shuttle to Jupiter

The Shooting Stars are earned by posting general news posts on your wall asking all neighbors for help. While you are waiting for them to arrive, you may send your Space Shuttle to Jupiter by collecting Star Fuel. Each Jupiter mission takes just 60 minutes, and you may find out more about this mission and others in our complete guide. eventually, the many complex portion of this goal will see you expanding either 1 or 2 squares out from your current town's borders to reach the Meteor Crash Site. This item is ultimately a community building, allowing for 2,000 extra citizens to live in your town, but it is more visually impressive than anything else.

If you have already expanded to the full allowance of the game's current map, you will simply find this Meteor Crash Site in your inventory, and may place it (should you actually have room to do so - the thing's massive!). For completing this overall goal, you will receive ten Sun Fuels, which are used back in the Space Shuttle feature. Of course, this goal and presumably the Meteor Crash Site itself won't be around forever, so make sure to expand and complete this goal sooner, rather than later, if you are interested in the prizes therein. Good luck!

What do you think of this Meteor Crash Site? Does your town have room to hold this massive item? Sound off in the comments!
